What is the Lipstick Effect?

How is the Lipstick Effect different from regular lip blush?

Will it look exactly like conventional lipstick?

Not exactly. Permanent lip pigment heals within the skin, so it cannot provide the same opacity, texture, shine, or unlimited color intensity as lipstick applied to the surface. The healed result is a more defined and saturated base that can still be enhanced with gloss or lipstick.

Can I choose the color?

Yes. Color is selected according to your natural lip tone, skin undertone, personal preferences, and desired intensity. You may bring a favorite lipstick for inspiration, but the healed result may not be an exact match because pigments change as they blend with the natural lip color.

Will the color look very bright immediately after the procedure?

Yes. Fresh lip pigment typically appears much brighter, darker, and more intense than the final result. The color softens considerably during healing and may temporarily appear very light before becoming more visible again.

Can the Lipstick Effect make my lips look fuller?

It does not add physical volume like lip filler. However, improving the color, border, and symmetry can make the lips appear more defined and visually fuller. Pigment must remain within the natural lip tissue.

Is the Lipstick Effect appropriate for dark or unevenly pigmented lips?

Naturally dark, cool, brown, gray, purple, or uneven lips may require neutralization before the desired lipstick color can be applied. Attempting to place a target color directly over an unsuitable base can produce unpredictable healed results.

How many sessions will I need?

Most new Lipstick Effect procedures require an initial appointment followed by a perfecting session approximately six to eight weeks later. Additional sessions may be needed when stronger saturation is desired or when the lips retain pigment unevenly.

What should I expect during healing?

Temporary swelling, tenderness, dryness, tightness, and flaking are common. The lips may initially appear bold and then become very light as the surface heals. The color gradually settles and should not be judged until the healing process is complete.

How long does the Lipstick Effect last?

The result commonly remains visible for approximately two to four years before a color boost may be desired. Longevity varies according to pigment selection, natural lip color, lifestyle, sun exposure, medications, aftercare, and individual retention.

Is the procedure painful?

The lips are naturally sensitive, so clients may experience pressure, scratching, vibration, or moderate discomfort. A topical anesthetic may be used to improve comfort, although sensitivity differs between clients.

What if I have a history of cold sores?

Lip procedures can trigger a cold-sore outbreak in clients who carry the herpes simplex virus. Disclose your history before booking and consult an appropriate healthcare professional about whether prescription antiviral medication is recommended.

Can the Lipstick Effect cover previous lip permanent makeup?

Possibly. Existing pigment must be evaluated for color, saturation, shape, depth, and migration. Dark, heavily saturated, discolored, or poorly positioned pigment may require correction or removal planning before a new color is applied.
